Mensa Christi: Couples for Christ Weekend Retreat

On September 5 and 6, 2026, the annual Couples for Christ Theme Weekend Retreat: Mensa Christi (Table of Christ) was echoed in our community here in Hawaii. Nineteen couples including the retreat team and two individual members gathered around Christ’s table to fellowship with the Lord at St Stephen Diocesan Center in Kaneohe. The talks, activities and the overall conduct of the retreat revolves around CFC’s theme for 2026: “In the One, we are one!” 

Anchor Verse: 1 John 1:3-4 (Good News Translation) "What we have seen and heard we announce to you also, so that you will join with us in the fellowship that we have with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. We write this in order that our joy may be complete."

We engaged in various activities, including Celebrating the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, receiving the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick , praying the Rosary, Praying the Divine Mercy, Praise and Worship, Talks and Faith Sharings and Fellowship around the “table” where we do not only shared food but stories that inspired one another and strengthened our bond of brotherhood and sisterhood.

The retreat served as an inspiration to renew our personal faith, embrace God’s call, and strengthen our bonds with each other, our community, friends, family, and the Church.

We were encouraged to respond to God’s invitation to communion by cultivating a heartfelt prayer habit, actively participating in the Eucharist where Jesus offers Himself as true nourishment for our souls, participating in the church’s liturgical life, fostering unity within our marriages, building families where all members feel valued, respected, loved, and trusted.

We were also encouraged to nurture Christ’s Table by caring for each other’s needs as couple and as a family and participating in the divine life through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist making Christ to take His central place in our families.

The concluding session challenged us to extend the Table of Christ to the wider community including the weak, vulnerable, broken,  lost and the unloved. As Couples for Christ, we are called to be a community of joy, love, and mission, a living testament to God’s grace in the world, and to contribute to the building of the body of Christ.

The Table of Christ is not a table for two but for three - husband, wife and Christ and extends to the family and to the community. God’s love is meant to be shared, only then can our joy be complete.
