As we all face the COVID-19 pandemic, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i continues to carry out our existing 40+ programs and services with adjustments to health precautions and social distancing. We have also added additional services to assist in the social and economic effects of COVID-19. The health crisis has affected our island community with job loss, financial insecurity, and isolation. We’re here to help.
Through our partnerships with Hawaii Community Foundation, Aloha United Way and other funding sources, we are coordinating funds to qualifying individuals and families struggling to make ends meet as a result of COVID-19.
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i Community Assistance Program – Funds for KAUA‘I
Funds made possible by the Hawai‘i Community Foundation - Hawai‘i Resilience Fund Financial assistance for Kaua‘i residents impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds will provide financial assistance to at-risk individuals and families for housing costs such as rent, security deposit or utilities or purchase of supplies, including food and sanitization items.
Priority of assistance services will be given to vulnerable populations, including:
ALOHA UNITED WAY COVID-19 Rent & Utilities Assistance Program (CRUA) – Funds for O‘AHU, MAUI, KAUA‘I
Provides financial relief to individuals and families those at risk of losing their home or utility services. The program will support for any rent/utility arrears accumulated from March 15, 2020.
Anxiety levels are high for many during these uncertain times. Our professional Counseling Center therapists are meeting with folks virtually via Telehealth for consultations and sessions. They are available to meet with individuals, families, youth, couples to address their mental health needs.
To help seniors who are in the highest risk group, our new Phone a Friend Program is offering friendly check-in calls for isolated seniors with the help of volunteers. Regularly scheduled calls provide social interaction, decrease loneliness, and allows a safety check for isolated, homebound seniors.
We are grateful for your support and partnership to carry out the social mission of the Church. Together we are stronger!
