City and County Grant
We received $33,000.00 from the City and County of Honolulu toward prevention of homelessness and disconnection of utility services. These funds are available to anyone who is facing eviction or needing first month’s rent with a limit of $500 per family and one month’s bill.

Emergency Food and Shelter Grant
In March we will have another $57,000.00 from the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program (a federal grant): $50,000.00 toward rent and $7,000.00 toward utilities. Please call your nearest Catholic Church for information and to initiate application.

Intake and Assessment Training
There will be a training session for parish outreach coordinators on intake and assessment procedures in each Vicariate . These workshops will assist and update coordinators with the latest changes and techniques.

Next Outreach Meeting
Our next Outreach meeting is on Wednesday, April 19th at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Parish — Mililani, from 9:00 a.m. — 1:00 p.m.

Deacon Walter Yoshimitsu, Diocesan Prison Ministry Coordinator, will be giving us a presentation on “Prison Ministry.” He will offer us some pointers on developing and supporting prison ministry in our parishes.

Bereavement Ministry Training
Barbara Akeo, the Parish Administrator at St. John Vianney Parish — Kailua, will be leading a training session on Parish Bereavement Ministry for the Manoa-Punahou Catholic Community (Sacred Heart Parish — Punahou and St. Pius X — Manoa) on March 18th.

Jubilee Justice Retreat
There is a Jubilee Justice retreat, “Journey to Justice,” on Saturday, April 1st, at St. Stephen Diocesan Center for the Ministry for Persons with Disabilities advocates and Parish Social Ministers. Please mark your calendars.

Manoa-Punahou Health Fair
On Sunday, May 21st, The Manoa-Punahou Catholic Community will host its first health fair at St. Pius the X Parish — Manoa. The health fair, held in conjunction with the Saint Francis Health Care System is open to everyone.

Parish Social Ministry Retreat
The Parish Social Ministry Semi-annual retreat will be on Wednesday, July 19th after our quarterly meeting. The place and director will be announced at our next meeting.
