FIAT Prayer Group
WHOLE GROUP
By uniting with others in a F.I.A.T. prayer group, we can change the world. F.I.A.T. (Family International Apostolic Team) is a network of prayer groups united in spirit to promote evangelization through the devotion to Mary and the Holy Spirit.
It is a spiritual apostolate which encourages Catholics to live in word and deed as witnesses of Jesus Christ.
MEMBER OF THE GROUP
Few things are expected of a person who joins a F.I.A.T. prayer group: one is to pray the FIAT rosary, to attend a monthly or more frequent meeting regularly, and to encourage one another to witness to the Lord. There is no dues and no other rules or regulations.
At the prayer meeting, the members enter into a silent prayer for a few minutes followed by a reading of a passage from a book in relation to the FIAT spirituality, and by the recitation of the FIAT rosary. A short spiritual teaching can be given by one of the members. The members then take turns in reporting on some apostolic activity they performed since the last meeting or some step in their spiritual growth. No one is given an assignment or put under any pressure to report. Some remain silent for the whole meeting. The prayer group leader strives to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible. FIAT is an anointed spiritual movement.
The Holy Spirit is the guide for the rest of the way.
The F.I.A.T. members are encouraged to attend Mass, receive the Eucharist and use Reconciliation as often as possible to help them be witnesses to the Good News of God's love and mercy by living gladly because of the knowledge of His Love.
EVANGELIZATION
The FIAT Rosary was born of a desire to combine the twofold obligation of the Christian, namely to pray and to put prayer into action. It invites us to gather around Mary as the Apostles did in the upper room in Jerusalem 2000 years ago. They pray to receive the Holy Spirit. In the same way the Holy Spirit operated on the disciples, He will give each one of us tailored-made spiritual gifts, and will help us to discern and use them, so that we will be a living and effective part of the Body of Christ, a genuine apostle.
Each one in a FIAT prayer group leaves the room, as the Apostles did, with a new desire, empowered by the Holy Spirit to carry the love of God into the world.
As Cardinal Suenens said in this prayer of hope:
