Civil Unions (HB 444) Bill May be Pulled.... Again!

We just received word from a reliable source that there will be another attempt to pull HB444 HD1 from the Senate Judiciary Committee within the next couple of days.  The first vote could come as early as April 14, or Thursday, April 16.

As we had warned you all before, this bill could be voted on anytime before the end of session and this may be one last desparate attempt.  We know that you have probably already sent an email before on this very issue, but we are STRONGLY recommending that you do it again. 

IMMEDIATE AND URGENT ACTION STEPS TO BE TAKEN

 
ACTION STEP 1:  On Tuesday, April 14, 2009, show up at the Capitol and visit Senate offices and then sit in the Senate gallery wearing red shirts.  The session tomorrow starts at 9:30 a.m. and will probably run through the afternoon. 

ACTION STEP 2:  Fill the gallery on Thursday, April 16, 2009 beginning 11:30 am, when HB 444 it is targeted for action.
 
ACTION STEP 3:  Please call, e-mail and/or fax your senators especially the Judiciary Committee Chair Brian Taniguchi (Manoa, Makiki, Moiliili, and McCully) and Senate President, Colleen Hanabusa (Leeward Oahu).  Tell them you oppose any attempts to bring the bill to a floor vote again.  Ask them to focus on the more urgent issues of the economy and budget cuts to services and programs.  (The links above are active for you to send an email directly to Senator Taniguchi and Senate President Hanabusa.)
