VOTE OVERWHELMINGLY PASSES IN THE HOUSE:

On February 12, 2009, the House of Representatives passed the civil unions bill       (HB 444 HD1) 34 (favor) -17 (against).  Votes in the House were as follows: 

YES VOTES IN SUPPORT OF CIVIL UNIONS were Representative(s) Belatti, Berg, Bertram, Brower, Cabinilla, Carroll, Chang, Chong, Coffman, Hanohano, Herkes, Karamatsu, Lee, Lee, Luke, Marumoto, Morita, Nakashima, Keith_Agaran, Nishimoto, B. Oshiro, M. Oshiro, Rhoads, Saiki, Say, Shimabukuro, Souki, Takumi, Thielen, Tsuji, Wakai, Wooley, and Yamashita

NO VOTES OPPOSED TO CIVIL UNIONS were Representative(s) Aquino, Awana, Ching, Choy, Evans, Finnegan, Har, Ito, Magaoay, Manahan, McKelvey, Mizuno, Pine, Sagum, Tokioka, Ward, Yamane voting no (17) and Representative(s) Takai excused (1).

The bill, HB 444 HD1, will now move on to the Senate Judiciary Committee and if it passes there, it will go to the full Senate for a vote.   

IMMEDIATE ACTION: 

Please contact those members in the House who bravely voted NO and thank them for their vote.  Please also contact those members in the House that voted yes and tell them you are disappointed in their vote.
